1985 saw the introduction of radial tires to the Indy cars. Their debut was set to be the Michigan 500. A rash of tire failures in practice and qualifying lead to a last-minute post-ponement of the race for one week. The TV networks were unable to work with the new schedule and as a result the race was never televised, which was a shame as this race saw F1 star Emerson Fittipaldi score his first ever Indy car win. The car he raced that day did not carry the normal dark blue and white scheme used at every other race that season. Fittipaldi was using the STP sponsored backup car that was hastily re-arranged with 7-Eleven sponsorship, resulting in this STP "Petty Blue" variation.
