Roger Penske is known as the winningest car owner in Indianapolis 500 and Indycar history. His first foray into Indy car racing was in 1968 with driver Mark Donohue. They chose to campaign a Dan Gurney built Eagle and ran some select races, including Riverside and Milwaukee. They used two configurations of the Chevy stockblock, one with carbs, one with fuel injections. The following year Pesnke and Donohue would make their Indianapolis 500 debut in a Lola Ford. Donohue capture rookie of the year honors.
