Joe Boyer has a unique distinction in Indianapolis 500 history: He lead the first lap and last lap of the 1924 Indianapolis 500. While that may not seem unusual, he did it in two different cars! Corum had been running well, but was replaced at lap 110 by Boyer who was able to take the lead at lap 178 and bring the car home for the victory.
