The 1980 Renault RE20 was a progression of the 1979 RS10, which was the first turbo charged car to win an F1 race. The naming convention RS (Renault Sport) was changed to RE (Renault Elf) for 1980. The car scored three wins during the 1980 F1 seasons - two with René Arnoux and one with Jean-Pierre Jabouille. Jabouille would suffer serious leg injuries later in the season which resulted in his being replaced by Alain Prost for the 1981 season.
