only check Indycals

Founded in 1983, the Newman Haas Indycar team had been a one car effort with Mario Andretti for it's first six seasons. But for 1989 the team expanded to two cars and added Mario's son Michael to the driver lineup. Each driver scored eleven top-ten finishes, with Michael capturing wins at Toronto and the Michigan 500. Both cars ran up front at Indy - with Michael taking control of the race in the second half - but both cars encountered mechanical issues that dropped Michael out of the race and relegated Mario to fourth place, 5 laps down. Michael Finished the season 3rd in points and Mario 6th.
