Although recognized as a TV broadcaster today, David Hobbs was the epitome of versatility as a driver in the early 70s, competing in F1, Indy, NASCAR, F5000, sports cars, you name it he probably drove it! In 1974 Hobbs qualified 9th for the Indianapolis 500 in his strking black, white and red McLaren, and finished a solid 5th - the only top-10 finish for a non-US driver at Indy in the 1970s.
