Nigel Mansell left the Williams F1 team after the 1988 season to driver for Ferrari in 1989 - the last Ferrari driver personally selected by Enzo Ferrari before he passed away in August 1988. Mansell won in his Ferrari debut at the Brazilian Grand Prix - the first win ever for a semi-automatic gearbox. It was also the last time a driver would win in his Ferrari debut until Kimi Raikonnen in 2007. Mansell would get three pole positions and one more race victory in Hungary, while Gerhard Berger would score one pole and one victory in 1989.
