When the subject of most beautiful F1 cars of all time comes up, the Lotus 79 is almost always at or near the top of the list. It is frequently referred to simply as "Black Beauty".

Making it's debut in the 6th race of the 1978 Formula One season in Belgium, the car won 6 races, five in the hands of Mario Andretti, one with Ronnie Peterson at the wheel. Lotus scored an easy victory in the constructors championship and Mario Andretti won the World Championship.
