After a very trying 1983 season, a year in which A.J. Foyt lost is father, A.J. came back in 1984 with a brand new March 84C and a new Gilmore/Fort livery. Despite qualifying in only 12th position, Foyt drove a steady race and was rewarded with a solid 6th place finish.
