only check Indycals

Pancho Carter scored his one and only Indy car victory in 1981 at the innaugural Michigan 500 at Michigan International Speedway. It was a race that was delayed a week by rain, and then a massive pit fire that brought out the red flag. AJ Foyt had a big crash that nearly tore off his right arm. Carter held off Tony Bettenhausen Jr. to take the checkered flag.
