Dan Gurney came to Indianapolis in 1968 with two cars for himself and defending World Champion Denny Hulme. Gurney's car was powered by his own Weslake Engine, while Hulme's car was powered by the powerful Ford DOHC engine. Although Gurney's cars were not front runners during the race, Eagles took 3 of the top 5 positions: winner Bobby Unser driving a turbocharged Offy version of the 68 Eagle, and Gurney and Hulme finishing second and fourth respectively.
