1967 was the year of the Turbine. Parnelli Jones dominated the race, leading 167 of the first 196 laps. The breakage of a $6.00 bearing ended Parnelli's day and let A.J. Foyt cruise to the victory... or so it seemed. Coming out of turn four on his last lap, Foyt was faced with carnage littering the main straightaway from an accident. Weaving his way through the wreckage, Foyt crossed the finish line, taking his third of four Indianapolis 500 wins.
