For the third time in five years the pole sitter was the car to beat at Indianapolis. Scott Dixon became the first New Zealander to win the Indianapolis 500 in fairly easy fashion. His only competition was Tony Kanaan - who crashed while chasing for the lead - and Vitor Miera driving for Panther racing. Miera put up a valiant fight, even taking the lead at one point, but in the end, he didn't have enough for Dixon.
