In 2000, Paul Tracy won the CART races at Long Beach, Road America and Vancouver, and set a track record at Michigan International Speedway of 234.949 MPH. (378.114 km/h). Paul finished 5th in the series championship.
After finishing second in 1999 (tying series champion Juan Pablo Montoya in points), Dario Franchitti had a disappointing 2000 season winning no races and finishing 13th in the championship.
