Michele Alboreto looked to be a major threat to win the 1985 World Championship. Through the first 10 races he had 8 podium finishes and two retirements. in the eleventh race he finsihed fourth, and that would be his last points paying finish for the remainder of the year, as he finished 13th at Italy and failed to finish the last four races.
