Parnelli racing suffered a major blow in 1975 when financial backer Firestone pulled out of F1 racing. The car was plagued with reliabiltity early on, and the team missed the Belgian and Netherlands Grands Prix mid season. The only highlights of the year were a fourth place finish in Sweden and a fifth in France – this gave driver Mario Andretti 5 points and a tenth place finish in the season point standings. The team withdrew from F1 after the first three races of the 1976 season.
